4-star hotels in Mablethorpe

Mablethorpe is a traditional seaside town with a beach, a small seal sanctuary and a leisure centre, and the Lincolnshire Coastal Country Park to the south for walking and wildlife watching. It has a quieter, more traditional character than larger British seaside resorts, with the holiday economy peaking in the summer months.

The listed hotels sit on both sides of the town. Dawson Park and Goodwin's Static Caravan are the closest to the centre, at 0.5 to 0.8 km, and other stays on Alford Road, Sea Lane and Roman Bank in Sandilands lie between 0.8 and 4.8 km out. Bacchus Hotel, The Hemploe and Manor Farm Stay are in Sutton on Sea and the surrounding lanes. The mix of cottages, caravans and inns suits couples on a short break, families wanting space and self-catering, and guests travelling with pets.

The nearest railway stations are at Skegness and Grimsby, both roughly 20 miles away, with bus connections from there. Stagecoach bus services link Mablethorpe with Skegness, Louth and other local towns. By car, the town is reachable from the Midlands and Yorkshire via the A1 and then the A52 or A16. Once in Mablethorpe, the town centre and beach are easily explored on foot, and local buses serve the surrounding villages.

When to go

The best time to visit Mablethorpe is during the summer months, from June to September, when the weather is mildest and the beach and attractions are fully open. July and August are the busiest, with school holidays bringing more visitors. Spring and early autumn can also be pleasant, with fewer crowds and occasional warm days. Winter is quiet, and some seasonal businesses may close.
