Home/Where to stay/North Yorkshire/4- and 5-star hotels
4- and 5-star hotels in North Yorkshire
A shortlist of 4- and 5-star hotels in North Yorkshire, drawn from addresses across the dales, moors and market towns of the county. It is for travellers who want a rated, self-catering style base for a moors or dales break.
Staying in North Yorkshire
North Yorkshire is England's largest county, and its visitor heartland is the patchwork of dales, moorland and stone-built market towns that draws walkers, drivers and short-break travellers. The hotels on this shortlist sit in exactly that landscape: addresses name Kettlewell, Middlesmoor, Cowling and Ickornshaw in the dales, Kirk Hammerton and Harrogate inland, Cloughton and Castleton towards the eastern edge, with several entries listed simply as United Kingdom. Expect stone cottages and converted farm buildings rather than city-centre hotels, with fireplaces, gardens and parking as recurring features. That shape suits couples and families who want space, a kitchen and a quiet base, and self-drive visitors touring the moors and market towns rather than business travellers needing a city centre. None of the addresses place a hotel in a large town centre, so plan around the villages and lanes named below.
